I agree with Jacqui and Michael that growing older changes how we view our friends who eventually must leave for whatever reason. The heart doesn't seem to break as when we were young...because the mind chooses to remember the good memories, which seems to soothe the heart.

I do hope the sweet memories ease the wistfulness.

Thanks for a wonderful poem, and for sharing a bit of yourself. :)Jacquelinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06969724087414687616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1134423070092222259.post-4993849971885765042009-05-13T15:10:00.000-06:002009-05-13T15:10:00.000-06:00". . . preferably by moving". All I know is that as I get older there are those I cannot forget because they will not be forgot.
The most simple of unconnected events can bring their memory flooding back. That isn't to say I don't miss those that leave my life, preferably by moving. But as I age I think I am more a philosopher about it.

I see the void they leave as something I will be filling in time. But I forget people less. And find my mind turns warmly to memories of them at the oddest times.

Perhaps it is the heart that forgets but never the mind?JBinford-Bellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14293248281473648182noreply@blogger.com
