Thoughts on Weeding

Why is it, I wonder,

do the deer,
who have stripped the sumac
of its leaves
again,

Or the gophers,
undermining flowers and lawn,
making hills
where there were none.

Or the snails
leaving sticky trails
As they eat my lovely flowers
to death,

Or the new bug
that is
slowly
killing
my hostas,

Never seem to harm
the weeds.

Because weeds don't taste as good as all those fresh delectables grown on your own reserve? But oh how sweet of you, they all must think. %~D

Hehe, Shers, no doubt they do appreciate the gourmet fare.

I don't know, for sure, the answer to that question but weeds are the bane of humanity right next to tea partiers.

Oh boy, you said it, TB. Two of a kind really.

Do you feel sometimes we are just not meant to garden? One does get tired of fighting critters....last year it was voles, this year it is SLUGS. Deer, always, an bears can be a dangerous nuisance around here....Have a happy summr.

Ien, it's true every year brings its special challenges. But I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. I'll bet the same for you. The things that do make it are a greater reward for the struggle.
