Eleven

Can't help it, I have started counting down.  Eleven weeks from today - January 4th-- my last day of working for a living.

Go for it. Myself though when I retired it was like "wow today is the last day I'll be doing this." I knew I'd miss the kids teaching part of it but not the bureacracy and the endless redundant meeting and paperwork. I was ready to move on to other things especially travel. I loved my work till the end. Some of my teaching collegues grew to hate their work, even the kids counted the days (for years) and should have moved on to something else long before they retired. The kids knew they weren't happy in their work....

I, too, still love my work, and I do enjoy and appreciate the people I work with. Probably more so because I only see them once or twice a month and it's always like meeting up with old friends. But I'm tired of the grind--getting up early working all day, and trying to do grandma duty and take care of a big house and yard in the "fringe" hours of the day. I won't miss giving my prime energy and hours to the corporate world. And I imagine primetime hours to do fun things like book club, and watercolor, and, of course, birding.
