Acceleration

My whole body is clenched with tension.  We start demolition next week.  Everything got moved up a week.  All the workers are full-steam ahead.

Today I decided on the marble slab.  I decided on the floor tile.  I visited the appliance store and upgraded my choices a bit.  Looked at a lot of backsplash options.  Met with the contractor and went over the timeline.  He said the cabinetmaker is well underway and will install a week early, which means everything needs to happen fast to be ready for that.  Eek!

I have to put on the big T-day dinner tomorrow, and then immediately start unloading cabinets.  And despite the pressure, I'm still taking a little out-of-town jaunt.  I need this little getaway.  The weather is perfect.  I'm not putting it off.  I can unload the kitchen on Monday.

I need a drink.  (Just kidding, everyone, relax.  I actually think I AM going to cry, though.)

Oh.  Oh.  I keep thinking of things I need to do.  Oh!

Yes, absolutely, or as I always say, you eat the elephant one bite at a time. And, I make lists. For some reason, with a list, I feel less worried about overlooking something and it helps me to prioritize.

Before yesterday I didn't have a fixed timeline and I sort of felt everything would probably slip and this whole thing could take 8 weeks instead of 4. But it was lucky I had taken the day off and planned to pick out the granite and try to find the tile. After learning the project has moved up, It's very fortunate I did those things when I did. For the project to stay on time, they depend on me to have made the decisions so the materials can be bought and on hand when needed.

I'm feeling a little more in stride this morning, but first I've a big dinner to put on. First things first.

Thanks, Nicholas. Fortunately, I have a lot of confidence in my contractor, having worked with him before. I just need to get myself organized.

At least this will happen fast. At this time of year, remodeling slows down since people don't want their homes disrupted during the holidays. And that's an advantage for my project. I'll get prime attention.
